Pause
An iPhone app for limiting the apps you overuse. Pause blocks the apps you choose, and you earn time with them by reviewing flashcards.

How it works
Blocked by default. Unlocked by a short review.
Choose your apps
Pick the apps you want to use less with Apple's Screen Time picker. Pause only receives opaque tokens for the apps you pick; it can't read their names.
They stay blocked
Selected apps are shielded by iOS until you start a session in Pause.
Review what's due
Pause keeps flashcard decks on a spaced-repetition schedule. To start a session, you review the cards that are due today.
Use your allowance
The review unlocks the apps for the amount of time you set. The allowance counts combined use across the selected apps.
The shield comes back
When the allowance is used up, or the session ends, the apps are blocked again until the next review.
Decks
Your own cards, scheduled for you.
The Decks tab shows how many cards are due in each deck and how far along each one is in its schedule. You can review one deck or everything at once. Scheduling uses FSRS, the same family of algorithms modern flashcard apps use, so cards you know well come back less often.
Status
Still in development.
Pause is not on the App Store yet. We'll publish its privacy policy here before release. If you want to know when it ships, or have questions, email support@nimbletide.dev.
